Fujifilm has finally announced the new X-H2 mirrorless camera. The new model outmatches its predecessor with its massive 40.2-megapixel APS-C X-Trans Sensor.
The company revealed the camera during the X-Summit event. Fujifilm disclosed that the camera is capable of 8K video recording. It also has a 7-stop in-body image stabilization, dual card slots, and other top-tier features.
Fujifilm announced the Fujifilm X-H2s earlier this year and at a glance, the two cameras are almost the same. However, the difference in sensor size makes this camera a viable option for those who shoot large commercial prints.
Besides the new 40-megapixel sensor, the X-H2 is capable of shooting 15 fps through its mechanical shutter and if you need more fps, turn on the electronic shutter and you can shoot up to 20-fps. It will have a 1.29x crop though.
The Fujifilm X-H2 has a 5.76-million dot EVF with a 120fps refresh rate for a smooth viewing experience. It also uses CF-Express Type-B cards and the extra slot works with UHS-II cards.
The X-H2 is $500 more affordable than its sibling. It is priced at $1,999 and will be available later this month.
Fujifilm Releases Two New Lenses
Besides the Fujifilm X-H2, there are two new lenses set to join the Fujifilm lens lineup.
The Fujifilm XF 56mm f/1.2 R WR features 11 diaphragm blades for the sweet circle bokeh. The high number of blades also helps prevent chromatic aberrations.
It has 13 elements in 8 groups with two aspherical elements and one ED element. It can also focus closely up to 50 cm.
Shooting outdoors is not a problem as well due to its dust and moisture resistance plus it has flourine coating too.
The 56mm is a popular focal length for portrait photographers. Since the XF lineup uses APS-C sensors, it has an effective focal length of 84mm - arguably one of the best for portraits.
This lens is arriving later this month for $999 - a sweet price for an outstanding lens.
The Fujifilm GF 20-35mm f/4 R WR is the latest G-mount lens set to join the Fujifilm medium format lineup. It is a compact ultra-wide angle zoom that works the same as a 16-28mm focal length (crop factor of 0.79).
It features 14 elements in 10 groups with three aspherical, one ED aspherical, and three ED elements. This combination allows for reduced aberrations and increased sharpness.
The GF 20-35mm also has Nano GI coating to reduce flares, ghosting, and it produces deeper contrasts.
Lastly, it has a weather-resistant design.
This lens is available for $2,499 and will arrive in stores by late October.
